๐ Welcome to Realms of Fate
Read this once โ 60 seconds โ and you'll know exactly what to do.
โ Which one are you?
๐ฒ Joining a friend's game? Type the room code they gave you (or paste their ๐๏ธ party code), pick a class & species, and leave the DM key blank. That's it โ you're in, free, forever. ๐ง Running the game? Make up your own room code, then type a ๐ DM key of your choice (6+ characters). You are now the Dungeon Master. ๐ Just looking? Hit ๐ฒ Instant demo โ a ready-made adventure where you're the DM. No setup, no signup.
โก The room code is your table. Change it.
Everyone who types the same code lands at the same table. Don't keep the default โ make it yours (like steves-friday-game) and share it only with your group.
Type that same code next week and your whole campaign is still there: characters, map, quests, everything the DM ever told you.
โข Party code vs DM key โ they are NOT the same box.
๐๏ธ Party code (RF-XXXXX) โ drops you into your friend's game. It will never make you the DM. ๐ DM key โ claims the Dungeon Master seat. Pick your own secret one. The first person to enter a key owns that seat, and only that key opens it again โ so keep it to yourself.
Put a party code in the DM key box by mistake and the game will tell you instead of letting you in wrong.
โฃ What's free (almost everything).
Players never pay. Full character sheet, dice, battle map, fog of war, bestiary, spell library, voice chat, notebook โ all free, no account, no card. The DM speaking out loud is free too โ every table gets a narrator voice that runs on your own device, unlimited.
The only paid thing is the DM seat with an AI Dungeon Master. Want to try it? Free trial codes are posted in our Discord.
โค The AI DM is a DM feature.
The AI only talks when the table's Dungeon Master has it turned on โ it does not work for players on their own. A DM can bring their own free AI (Ollama, Groq, OpenRouter) on any paid tier, or use a hosted one with zero setup.

๐ How to play
Welcome, adventurer! Everything you need, from joining to slaying. Click any section to open it.
๐ช Joining a game
Got a party code? (looks like RF-XXXXX) โ type it into the ๐๏ธ Party code box on the join screen and you'll land in your friend's game automatically.
Otherwise, type the same Table / room code as your friends โ same code = same table.
Pick a class, species & background and the game builds a rules-correct level-1 character for you โ attacks, spells, skills, gear, everything.
Leave the GM password blank โ players always play free.
โ๏ธ Fighting (the fun part)
Open the Combat tab (โ๏ธ) and smash the big โ๏ธ Attack! button โ pick a target, hit Roll. The server rolls a real d20 against their real Armor Class. Nobody can fudge it.
Your weapon attacks appear as one-tap buttons under it โ tap your sword, pick the goblin, done.
Advantage / Disadvantage buttons roll 2d20 and keep the best/worst, just like the book. A natural 20 doubles your damage dice. ๐ฅ
You can also right-click any token โ โ๏ธ Attackโฆ or โค๏ธ Heal / Damageโฆ
On the Sheet tab (๐): cast spells (slots tracked for you), roll death saves when downed, take Short/Long rests, and hit Level Up when the DM awards XP.
โฐ๏ธ Death & resurrection ceremony: if your character hits 3 failed death saves, the whole table sees the eulogy and it's written into the Chronicle. Come back โ a natural 20, stabilization, or any healing โ and the table celebrates your return from the brink. Every death and comeback becomes part of your campaign's story.
๐ Heartbeat on the map: while a player is at 0 HP, their token pulses with a red heartbeat ring the whole table can see โ the clock is ticking. It stops the moment they're healed or stabilized.
โณ Session countdown: the ๐ Next Session banner now shows a live countdown โ "in 3 days", "tomorrow", "today at 7:00 PM", even "๐ฒ happening now!". Works when the DM types a real date or a weekday like "Friday 7pm"; freeform notes still display as-is.
๐ชฆ Hall of the Fallen: once a hero dies, a memorial wall appears in the Journal under the Chronicle โ every fallen PC with the day they fell, in gold-bordered remembrance. Heroes who returned from death's door get a green โจ entry instead. Your campaign's cost, made visible.
๐ Level-up fanfare: when anyone hits Level Up, the whole table gets golden confetti and a banner with their name and new level. Celebrate together โ it's earned.
๐ฏ On deck: when the player before you starts their turn, you get a quick "You're on deck โ plan your move!" nudge. No more getting caught flat-footed when initiative reaches you.
๐ Chat reactions: hover any chat message and react with ๐ โค๏ธ ๐ ๐ฑ ๐ ๐. Reactions show who sent them, sync to the whole table, and stick around in history. Tap yours again to take it back.
๐ True darkvision & personal sight: with ๐ก Lighting on, what you see is what YOUR character sees โ your darkvision range (put "Darkvision 60 ft" in your sheet's Senses box, auto-filled for most species), torches and light sources glowing through the dark, and walls blocking sight in every direction. Monsters no longer light up the map for you, and fog of war melts away only where your own eyes reach.
๐ค Help an ally: tap ๐ค Help an ally in the Combat tab and pick a friend โ their next attack rolls with advantage (server-resolved, and the boon is spent on that one attack). Teamwork wins fights, especially at low levels. The helped ally wears a teal ring until they use it.
๐ Use Inspiration: when the DM has awarded you Inspiration (great roleplay, a clever plan, a heroic moment), tap ๐ Use Inspiration in the Combat tab to spend it โ your next attack rolls with advantage (server-resolved, tagged ๐ in the log). Your token wears a gold ring until you use it. The button dims when you have none. You can also spend it from the โจ Inspiration button on your sheet.
๐คผ Shove: tap ๐คผ Shove (knock prone) in the Combat tab and pick an adjacent target โ the server rolls a Strength (Athletics) contest (your Athletics vs their Athletics/Acrobatics; ties favor the defender). On a win they're knocked โฌ๏ธ Prone. It's a great low-level combo: once a foe is prone, melee attackers roll with advantage and ranged attackers roll with disadvantage (handled automatically from token distance). Ball bearings and Trip Attack knock prone too.
๐คผ Grapple & Escape: tap ๐คผ Grapple / Escape in the Combat tab and pick an adjacent foe โ the server rolls a Strength (Athletics) contest (your Athletics vs their Athletics/Acrobatics). On a win they're ๐คผ Grappled โ their speed drops to 0 until they break free. If you're the one grappled, the same button shows ๐ Escape the grapple, rolling the better of your Athletics or Acrobatics against your captor's grip. Grab the enemy caster and drag them off the ledge, or pin the runner so the party can catch up.
๐ญ Conditions change the dice: the server now reads token conditions when it rolls an attack, straight from 5E. Attacking a foe who's Blinded ๐, Restrained ๐ธ๏ธ, Paralyzed โก, Stunned ๐ต, or Unconscious ๐ค rolls with advantage; attacking an Invisible ๐ป foe rolls with disadvantage. Your own Blinded, Poisoned โ ๏ธ, Restrained, or Prone gives you disadvantage, and being Invisible gives you advantage. Per the rules, one source of advantage and one of disadvantage cancel out. Every source is tagged right in the combat log so the whole table can see why the dice shifted โ just set a condition from the token's right-click menu.
๐งฑ Cover: in the Attack panel there's a Target's cover dropdown. If your target is crouched behind a low wall, peeking around a corner, or hiding behind an ally, pick Half cover (+2 AC) or Three-quarters cover (+5 AC) โ the server raises the AC you have to beat, exactly like 5E. The live readout shows the new effective AC (e.g. "AC 15 ๐งฑ(13+2 cover)") before you roll, and the combat log tags the shot with ๐งฑ so everyone sees why it was harder to land. A natural 20 still auto-hits through any cover.
๐น Ranged range-bands: tick Ranged attack in the Attack panel when you're firing a bow, crossbow, or thrown weapon. The server measures the real grid distance and rolls at disadvantage if an enemy is right next to you (firing in melee) โ and, if you type your weapon's normal range in the box, also when the target sits beyond that range (in long range). The combat log tags the shot with ๐น and the exact distance so the whole table sees why it was a tough shot.
๐ฅ Fighting Styles: the Attack panel has a Fighting style dropdown for martial characters. Archery adds +2 to your ranged attack rolls; Dueling adds +2 damage when you fight with a single one-handed melee weapon; Great Weapon Fighting lets you reroll any 1 or 2 on your damage dice (once each). Pick the one your class gave you and the server folds it into the roll automatically โ tagged in the log so it's clear.
โจ Healing Spell (Cleric/Druid/Bard/Paladin/Ranger): tap โจ Healing Spell to cast Cure Wounds (touch, your action, 1d8 + casting mod) or Healing Word (60 ft, just a bonus action, 1d4 + mod). Pick the spell, pick a real spell slot โ higher slots add a die each โ pick anyone in range (yourself included), and the heal lands on their token instantly. Slots, range and action economy all enforced, exactly per 5E.
โ๏ธ Bless & Bane (Cleric/Paladin/Bard): the classic concentration duo, fully wired. Bless: pick up to 3 allies within 30 ft (a higher slot adds a target each level) โ they add 1d4 to every attack roll and saving throw, rolled by the server and tagged ๐ in the log. Bane: same but foes subtract 1d4 โ each target gets a Charisma save against your DC to resist. You concentrate (๐ง ) โ take damage and fail the CON save, and the buff strips off everyone automatically.
๐ฐ Shield (Wizard/Sorcerer): the famous "nope" reaction. Tap ๐ฐ Shield to arm it โ the moment an attack would hit you, +5 AC snaps up retroactively and can turn the hit into a miss, announced dramatically to the table. The spell slot is spent only when it actually fires. Uses your reaction, exactly per 5E.
๐๏ธ Guidance (Cleric/Druid): the best cantrip in the game. Tap ๐๏ธ Guidance to arm it โ your next ability or skill check adds 1d4, tagged in the roll. Free to cast, spent on use, tap again to release it.
๐ฎ Font of Magic (Sorcerer 2+): Flexible Casting as a bonus action โ break a spell slot into sorcery points, or spend points to forge a new slot (1st: 2 ยท 2nd: 3 ยท 3rd: 5 ยท 4th: 6 ยท 5th: 7 SP). Your SP pool = your sorcerer level, tracked on the sheet.
๐ Eldritch Invocations (Warlock 2+): tap ๐ Invocations to pick the ones you know (2 at level 2, scaling to 8). Agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast wire straight into your Eldritch Blast beams; Fiendish Vigor gives 1d4+4 temp HP at will; Armor of Shadows is Mage Armor at will.
๐บ Wild Shape, by the book (Druid): your beast form's HP is a separate pool โ when it hits 0 you revert to your own body at the HP you had before transforming, and any leftover damage spills through to your true form. No more free health bars.
๐ก๏ธ Shield of Faith (Cleric/Paladin): bonus action โ a shimmering field grants a creature within 60 ft +2 AC while you concentrate (up to 10 min). The bonus is applied automatically to every attack against the warded creature, tagged ๐ก๏ธ in the log. Recasting moves the ward; losing concentration drops it.
โจ Magic Missile (Wizard/Sorcerer):3 darts (+1 per slot level above 1st), each 1d4+1 force โ they hit automatically: no attack roll, no save. Tap โจ M.Missile, pick a slot, click up to that many targets within 120 ft, and loose โ darts share out evenly (extras go to your first pick). The one counter: a target with the ๐ฐ Shield spell armed takes no damage at all, exactly per 5E.
โจ Save spell: casting a saving-throw spell (Fireball, Sacred Flame, Hold Personโฆ)? Tap โจ Save spell, pick the target, set your spell DC, the save ability (DEX/CON/WISโฆ), the damage and type, and whether a successful save takes half or none. The server rolls the target's save vs your DC and applies the result โ full damage on a fail, half or nothing on a save โ running it through resistances, temp HP, concentration checks, and downing, exactly like an attack. Your DC is pre-filled from your sheet.
โจ๐ฅ Area spell: the big one โ a burst that catches everyone. Tap โจ๐ฅ Area spell, pick a token to center the blast on, set the radius (20ft = Fireball), and the DC / save / damage / type. Every token inside the radius rolls its own save independently โ fail takes full, save takes half (or none) โ so one cast resolves the whole blast, each result logged line-by-line. Optionally include yourself if you're standing in it.
๐บ Cones & ๐ lines: the Area spell also does directional templates. Pick Cone (Burning Hands, Cone of Cold) or Line (Lightning Bolt), then pick an "Aim toward" token to point the shape โ only tokens actually inside the cone or line roll. Set the length, and for lines the width (default 5ft). The server does the geometry, so a cone catches a fanned-out group and a line catches everyone in a row without hitting the crowd beside them.
๐งฑ Cover on area saves: hunkered behind a wall when the Fireball goes off? On the Area spell, set Cover for all to ยฝ (+2) or ยพ (+5) โ 5E gives cover a bonus to DEX saves against point-origin effects, so every token in the blast adds that to its save (only for DEX-based spells). It's tagged in each line of the log so the table can see who got the wall's benefit.
๐คธ Evasion (Rogue / Monk): the DM can right-click a token โ Evasion: OFF โ turn on to mark it evasive. On any DEX save-for-half area effect, an evasive token takes no damage on a success and half on a failure โ nimbler than everyone else. It only kicks in on DEX-based half-damage spells (not save-negates effects), exactly per 5E, and shows a ๐คธ tag in the blast log.
๐ Legendary Resistance (dragons, liches): the DM can right-click a big monster โ Legendary Resistanceโฆ and give it charges (usually 3). Whenever that creature fails a saving throw โ single-target โจ Save spell or an โจ๐ฅ Area spell โ it can spend one charge to succeed instead. The server burns a charge automatically on a fail, flips it to a save, and logs ๐ with the remaining count, so the party sees the boss shrug off their Hold Monsterโฆ until the charges run dry.
๐ช Magic Resistance (demons, golems, some dragons): right-click the token โ Magic Resistance: OFF โ turn on. That creature then rolls its saving throws against your spells with advantage (2d20, keep the higher) โ the server rolls both dice and takes the best, tagged ๐ช in the log. It stacks naturally with ๐ Legendary Resistance: advantage first, then a charge if the better roll still fails.
๐ธ๏ธ Restrained โ disadvantage on DEX saves: a creature that's Restrained (๐ธ๏ธ โ from a net, web, Entangle, a grapple that pins it, etc.) rolls its Dexterity saving throws with disadvantage (2d20, keep the lower) โ so it's far more likely to eat a Fireball full-force. The save engine reads the target's condition automatically and tags the log ๐ธ๏ธ. If that same creature also has ๐ช Magic Resistance, the advantage and disadvantage cancel to a straight d20, exactly per 5E.
ใฐ๏ธ Difficult terrain (mud, rubble, brush, snow, swamp):DM โ open the fog/vision tools and pick ใฐ๏ธ Rough, name it (Mud, Rubble, Thick Brush, Deep Snow, Swampโฆ), then click cells to paint it. Everyone sees the muddy patch. Any token standing in it moves at half speed โ your movement HUD automatically halves your foot budget (e.g. 30 ft โ 15 ft) while you're on it, exactly like 5E difficult terrain costing double movement. It deals no damage. To remove it, use the ๐งฝ Erase brush (or right-click the cell) โ clears it just like a hazard.
๐ฅ Auto-crit on the helpless: when you land a melee attack against a creature that is Paralyzed (โก) or Unconscious (๐ค) and you're within 5 ft, the hit is an automatic critical hit โ double the damage dice โ exactly per 5E. The server checks the target's condition and your range automatically and tags the log ๐ฅ. (Ranged attacks and far-away strikes hit normally; only close-up melee gets the coup-de-grรขce bonus.)
๐ฅด Helpless creatures auto-fail STR & DEX saves: a Paralyzed (โก), Unconscious (๐ค), or Stunned (๐ต) creature automatically fails any Strength or Dexterity saving throw โ so a Fireball or a Hold-Person'd foe eats the blast full-force, no roll. The save engine checks the target's condition on both single-target and area spells and tags the log ๐ฅด. (๐ Legendary Resistance can still rescue an auto-failed save, exactly per 5E.)
๐ฅ Damage types & resistance: the Attack panel has a Damage type dropdown (fire, cold, slashing, radiantโฆ). If your target resists that type it takes half, if it's immune it takes none, and if it's vulnerable it takes double โ the server does the math and tags the log (๐ฉน / ๐ก๏ธ / ๐ข). The target readout warns you before you commit ("๐ข Vulnerable to radiant โ double damage"), so you can pick the element that hurts most. DM: right-click any token โ ๐ฅ Set damage defensesโฆ to tag what it resists, is immune to, or is vulnerable to (comma-separated types like fire, cold).
๐ง Concentration: casting a concentration spell? Right-click your token โ ๐ง Concentrate onโฆ and type the spell name (Bless, Hold Person, Hexโฆ). Your token gets a ๐ง badge and everyone can see who is concentrating on what. From then on, whenever you take damage the server automatically rolls your Constitution saving throw โ DC 10 or half the damage, whichever is higher โ and announces by name whether the spell holds or drops ("๐ง Alira holds concentration on Blessโฆ"). Your real CON save bonus (mod + proficiency if your class saves in CON) is used automatically. If you're knocked to 0 HP, concentration ends on its own. Right-click again and leave the name blank to end it when the spell wears off.
๐ค Downed & ๐ฉน Stabilize: when any creature drops to 0 HP it's automatically marked ๐ค Unconscious โ attackers get advantage against it (and it can't hold concentration). Heal a downed ally above 0 and they pop right back up ("๐ซ back on their feet!"). If you can't spare healing, tap ๐ฉน Stabilize a downed ally and pick the fallen โ the server rolls your Wisdom (Medicine) vs DC 10; on a success they're stable at 0 HP and stop making death saves (the frantic heartbeat pulse on their token settles). Your real Medicine bonus is used automatically.
๐ Death Saving Throws: while your character is dying (0 HP, not yet stable), tap ๐ Death saving throw on your turn. The server rolls a flat d20 โ 10 or higher succeeds, under 10 fails. Rack up three successes and you're stable; three failures and your hero dies (๐). A natural 20 is a miracle โ you spring back to consciousness at 1 HP โ and a natural 1 costs you two failures. Careful: taking any damage while at 0 HP is an automatic failure (two if it's a crit), so pull downed allies out of the fray. The running tally shows as โ x/3 โ x/3 in the log.
โก Opportunity Attack: when a foe tries to slip away from you, tap โก Opportunity attack and pick any enemy within your reach โ you make a free reaction swing at them as they go. You get one reaction per round, and it refreshes at the start of your turn (the button tells you if you've already spent it). Your token's own attack bonus and damage are used automatically, and all the usual rules apply โ advantage against a prone or unconscious foe, disadvantage against one that's Dodging.
๐ก๏ธ Off-hand strike (Two-Weapon Fighting): if you fight with a light weapon in each hand, tap ๐ก๏ธ Off-hand strike to make a second swing as a bonus action at a foe in reach. You get one bonus action per round and it refreshes at the start of your turn. It uses your second weapon's numbers if your token carries one โ and remember, off-hand damage normally doesn't add your ability modifier, so enter just the weapon die (e.g. 1d6, not 1d6+3).
๐ Disengage: want to walk away from a foe without getting hit on the way out? Tap ๐ Disengage (it costs your action). Until the start of your next turn your movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks โ anyone who tries to swing at you as you leave is turned away automatically. Your token wears a ๐ marker while it's active.
๐ Ready: want to wait and act the instant something happens? Tap ๐ Ready and type your trigger (e.g. "the goblin steps into the doorway"). That costs your action now and your token wears a ๐ marker. When the trigger happens, tap ๐ Ready again to release it โ it fires as your reaction, then resolve it (tap โก Reaction to swing, or Cast the readied spell). A readied action lapses at the start of your next turn if you never release it.
๐ซฅ Hide: tap ๐ซฅ Hide to make a Stealth check (your DEX + proficiency if you're trained). Beat DC 15 and you become ๐ป Unseen โ your next attack has advantage, and foes attack you at disadvantage. The catch: attacking reveals you, so the hidden state ends the moment you swing. Great for landing a big Sneak-Attack opener.
๐จ Dash: need to cover ground? Tap ๐จ Dash (costs your action) to double your movement for the turn โ your move meter in the turn HUD updates to the doubled distance and shows ๐จ(Dashed). Resets at the start of your next turn.
๐ฏ Action tracker: when it's your turn in initiative, a little card appears (bottom-left) tracking your turn's economy โ โ๏ธ Action ยท ๐ Bonus ยท โก Reaction plus your movement bar. The Bonus and Reaction pips grey out automatically the moment you spend them (an off-hand strike or an opportunity attack); tap the โ๏ธ Action pip yourself to mark your action used. Everything resets at the start of your next turn, so you always know what you have left.
๐ก๏ธ Dodge: tap the ๐ก๏ธ Dodge button in the Combat tab (or right-click your token โ ๐ก๏ธ Dodge) to take the Dodge action. Every enemy that attacks you rolls with disadvantage until your next turn, and your token wears a blue ๐ก๏ธ ring so the whole table can see you're turtling up. It clears automatically when your turn comes back around.
๐ Movement counter: when you're in initiative and it's your turn, a badge appears (bottom-left) tracking how far you've moved this turn โ "moved 15 / 30 ft" with a little bar. Drag your token and it counts up; go over your speed and it turns red so you know you've spent it all. It only shows on your own turn and resets every round. Off-turn nudges don't count.
๐ฒ Group checks & saves: when the DM calls for a check or save, a banner drops down with a Roll button โ tap it and your character's real bonus is rolled for everyone to see, with a โ pass / โ fail against the DC. No math, no scrambling for your sheet.
๐ Mundane kit: under the action buttons in the Combat tab โ ๐ฉ Caltrops and โช Ball bearings scatter hazards at your feet (enemies crossing must save or get slowed/knocked prone), and the ๐ชง 10-ft pole safely pokes the squares around you to find hidden traps without springing them. Cheap gear, clever plays.
๐ฒ Dice & rolls
Dice tab (๐ฒ): tap any die, or use the presets.
Type /roll 2d6+3 in chat for anything custom. Save your favorites as macros.
Click skills, saves and attacks on your sheet โ they roll themselves with your real bonuses.
๐ Loot, gold & shopping
Items come from the world: buy them at shops (Party tab shows the shop when the DM opens one), loot chests (๐ฆ double-click) and fallen monsters (double-click a downed foe), find them in quests, or trade with other players.
Your sheet tracks weight โ carry too much and you're slowed. Equip weapons and armor with the toggles (two hands, one suit of armor โ the game enforces it).
Trade items or coins: Party tab โ click a player โ ๐ค Trade.
๐ค Haggle: at a shop, hit Haggle on any item to talk the vendor down โ it rolls your Persuasion (CHA). A good roll knocks 10โ25% off the price; a great roll (or a natural 20) means the townsperson hands it over free. Push your luck too hard and a natural 1 bumps the price up! One pitch per item each visit.
๐บ๏ธ The world
World tab (๐บ๏ธ): see the map, travel between cities on foot, horse, wagon or boat. Travel takes in-game time and can trigger road encounters โ 100 different ones.
In a city you can visit its vendors and buy what they stock.
Quests tab (โ): your objectives tick off automatically as you travel and fight โ rewards (XP + gold) pay straight onto your sheet.
๐ฌ Talking & tools
Say talks to the table; DM โธ asks the AI Dungeon Master to respond. ๐ Talk lets you speak instead of type.
/whisper name message sends a private message (/reply answers the last one).
The ๐ค voice button connects live voice chat with your table.
Journal tab (๐): shared notes plus People you've met โ the cast of NPCs the AI DM remembers.
โจ Custom Trackers (character sheet): add your own stats โ Corruption, Sanity, Faction rep, anything your table invents. Give it a cap of 1โ8 for clickable pips, or leave it open as a counter. Click the name to rename; they save with your character and travel with exports.
๐๏ธ Survival (button up top): built for gritty low-level (1โ4) play, where every torch and ration counts. Grab a starter kit to drop wilderness essentials onto your sheet (torches, rations, waterskin, rope, bedroll, tinderbox), light a torch (it burns one from your pack), make camp (eats a ration and rolls a night-watch event), and forage & track with a real Survival (WIS) check. Run out of rations and you bed down hungry โ the DM may make that hurt.
โจ Utility spells (button up top): the clever, non-combat magic โ Prestidigitation, Mending, Light, Mage Hand, Guidance, Feather Fall, Locate Object, Comprehend Languages and more. One tap casts it: cantrips are free, leveled spells spend a real slot from your sheet, and every cast announces to the table so the DM can rule the result. Guidance even rolls your bonus for you.
๐ Your interface, your way (button up top): untick the tabs you never use and they vanish from your panel โ just for you. Save layouts as presets ("โ๏ธ Combat night" and "๐ญ Roleplay night" come built in) and swap your whole workspace in one click.
๐ Next session: check the top of the Journal tab โ your DM posts when you're playing next, and you'll see a reminder each time you join.
๐ต Session Playlist (Journal tab): when your DM links a Spotify or YouTube playlist, a player appears right in the Journal โ the whole table listens to the same campaign soundtrack. If the DM set a โ๏ธ battle mix, it takes over automatically when initiative starts.
๐ช Hybrid sessions: playing in the same room as your group? Tick "I'm at the physical table" when you join (or click your name in the Players tab to flip it). Remote friends show as ๐ โ everyone plays the same campaign whether they're on the couch or across the country.
๐ Luck report (Dice tab): end-of-session dice stats โ everyone's rolls, natural 20s, natural 1s, best roll and average, plus ๐ Luckiest and ๐ชฆ Cursed verdicts. Hit ๐ฃ to post the report to chat and settle the "the dice hate me" argument with data.
๐ Condition tooltips: hover any condition โ the emoji on a token, the chips on your sheet, the strip in the token menu โ and the actual 5E rule appears. No more "wait, what does Restrained do again?".
โ๏ธ Turn helper: when your turn starts, a card pops up with what you can do โ move, action options (with your actual attacks), bonus action, reaction โ plus one-tap Attack / Cast / Roll buttons. Great while you're learning; hide it forever with one click, or turn it back on here.
๐ Exhaustion tracker (character sheet, under Conditions): click the skull pips to set your level โ the exact penalties show right next to it, stacking as they should. A long rest removes one level automatically.
๐ Inspiration: when the DM rewards your roleplay, your sheet lights up and the whole table hears about it. Spend it from your sheet โ it announces "advantage on the next roll!" so nobody forgets you earned it.
๐ Just watching: tick it on the join screen to spectate โ see the map, follow the chat, cheer from the sidelines with no character and no turn prompts. Great for friends checking out the game before they roll one up. When you're hooked, hit the glowing ๐ฒ Join the adventure button and you're in โ the table gets the good news and your character sheet opens.
๐ฐ Party Loot (Combat tab): when the DM drops a haul, ๐ Claim what you want (first come!) or ๐ฒ Roll for contested items โ winner takes it, straight onto your sheet. Split gold arrives in your coin pouch automatically.
โ๏ธ Maneuvers (Combat tab, if your DM enables them): martial classes get Superiority Dice โ spend one on Trip, Disarm, Riposte, Menace, Push or Precision Strike. The die and the save DC post to chat automatically; dice come back on a rest.
๐ Linked notes: type @ in a notebook note and pick a character โ the name becomes a gold link that jumps to their card (dead ones show struck-through). Type #waystation style tags and click any tag to see every note using it. NPC cards grow a "๐ 2 notes" button showing everywhere you've written about them. Your notes become a campaign wiki without trying.
๐ My Notebook (in the Journal tab): your own private session notes โ nobody else sees them. Attach a ๐ท photo of your real notebook pages, paste a screenshot straight into the note box, or draw a quick โ๏ธ sketch (monster doodles, hand-drawn maps). Notes are saved with the campaign, so they're waiting for you next session.
Found something broken? Hit ๐ up top โ it goes straight to the devs.
โ๏ธ Combat & dice โ what's new
Every roll tumbles a big d20 on the battle map for the whole table to see.
Roll a natural 20 and chat shouts ๐ฅ NATURAL 20! โ a natural 1 gets ๐ CRITICAL FAIL. No hiding it now.
When combat starts, a floating tracker shows the round and turn order over the board. When you're next, you'll get a "๐ฏ You're on deck" heads-up โ plan your move!
Your token's health bar sits on top of it like a video game. You can see the party's bars โ monster HP is the DM's secret.
Double-click your token to pick a portrait โ there's a gallery of knights, paladins, bards and more.
The DM master guide โ run your first session in 10 minutes, then go deep. Every tool, in the order you'll need it.
๐ Session zero: set up your table (2 min)
Join with a room code of your choosing and set a GM password โ first password claims the DM seat. (New tables get 3 free DM session-days; after that it's DM Pro. Players never pay.)
๐ Setup (top bar): new campaign? The Session Zero wizard walks you through the whole thing in one pass โ party code, first session time, playlists, first map, first quest. It pops up automatically on a fresh table; steps turn green as you go.
๐พ Backup / ๐ฅ Restore (chat DM row): download your ENTIRE campaign โ map, tokens, quests, NPCs, journal, shop, world, scenes, loot โ as one file, and restore it any time. Insurance against anything; also the way to move a campaign to a new room. Player logins and private notebooks never leave the server.
๐ Award Inspiration (Players tab): hit the star next to a player's name for great roleplay โ their sheet lights up, the table gets the announcement, and spending it announces itself too. The cheapest player-happiness button in the game.
๐ End session (chat DM row): the closing ritual in one tap โ posts the night's dice luck report, logs "Session N complete" to the Chronicle, then walks you to the next-session banner and a backup download. End every night with it and your campaign stays organized forever.
๐ / ๐ช Moderation (Players tab): mute a disruptive player's chat (they're told, the table isn't) or remove them from the table entirely. Sits next to the ๐ Inspiration star โ carrot and stick in one row. Handy now that anyone can ๐ spectate.
Click ๐๏ธ Party code (top bar) โ send the code to your players. They type it in the GM password box and land in your game as players.
Want a co-DM? Give them your GM password instead.
Try the whole game solo first: the green ๐ฒ instant demo button gives you a seeded adventure to poke at.
๐ง Your AI co-DM (free!)
Click the ๐ง DM badge to point the AI at your own free Ollama (5-min setup โ ask in Discord #help-and-questions) or leave it on the server default.
DM โธ makes it narrate. It sees the battlefield, HP, dice results, quests โ and every NPC in Journal โ People you've met (๐ญ Improv NPC adds them automatically, so it never forgets a character).
Improv set: ๐ญ NPC ยท ๐ฐ Describe place ยท ๐ฃ Plot hook โ instant content when players go off-script.
๐คซ Secret roll (next to the Improv set): roll any dice behind the screen โ only YOU see the result. Perfect for hidden perception checks, stealth vs the party, or "rolling to see if the bridge holds". Tick ๐ tease to post "the DM rolls something behind the screenโฆ" with no numbers โ nothing kills metagaming faster.
๐งญ Travel event (next to the Improv set): pick the terrain โ road, forest, mountains, swamp, desert, coast or underground โ and one tap posts a ready-to-run travel moment to chat: encounters, discoveries, hazards, mysteries. 70 hand-written events, works fully offline (no AI needed). Great for making journeys feel alive instead of "you travel for three days".
๐ Recap writes a "Previously onโฆ" from your session log. ๐ voices read the DM aloud.
AI can also: suggest quests (Quests tab), stock your shop, and generate loot straight onto a player's sheet.
โ๏ธ Running combat
Drop monsters: Combat tab โ search the bestiary (or Open5e's thousands) โ click to place a token with real HP/AC. Save whole groups as encounters and re-drop them later.
๐ Next session (Journal tab): type when you're playing next ("Friday 7pm EST") + an optional note โ every player sees it in their Journal and gets a reminder when they join. ๐ฃ Announce posts it to chat. Pair it with the Sesh bot in the Discord for RSVPs, and scheduling stops being the campaign killer.
๐ต Session playlist (Journal tab): paste a Spotify or YouTube playlist link and every player gets a built-in player in their Journal โ your campaign soundtrack travels with the room and survives restarts. Add an optional โ๏ธ combat playlist and the music auto-switches to your battle mix the moment initiative starts, then back when the fight ends. Pairs with the ๐ ambient soundscapes for layered audio.
โจ Custom Trackers: running a homebrew mechanic โ corruption, sanity, faction favor? Players add it to their own sheet in seconds (character sheet โ Custom Trackers) with pips or counters. Pairs with the ๐งช Homebrew Maker for fully homebrew campaigns.
๐ Custom interfaces: every player can hide tabs they don't use and save layout presets โ a Fighter can run a lean โ๏ธ combat layout while your bard keeps the ๐ญ roleplay tabs. Each person's layout is their own; it changes nothing for anyone else.
๐ฐ Party Loot (Combat tab): type the haul ("Flame Sword, 3 Potions") plus gold and hit Drop haul. Players ๐ Claim items first-come or ๐ฒ roll off (one d20 each, you ๐ Award to the highest); claimed items land straight on their sheets. โ๏ธ Split gp evenly divides the gold across the party with the remainder staying pooled. No more twenty-minute loot arguments.
๐ Optional rules (Combat tab): flip โ๏ธ Martial maneuvers ON and your Fighters, Barbarians, Monks, Rogues, Rangers and Paladins gain Superiority Dice (d8s, short-rest recovery) plus six battle maneuvers โ Trip, Disarm, Riposte, Menace, Push, Precision. One tap rolls the die and posts the save DC to chat. A clean fix for the martial/caster gap โ and it's your call, per campaign.
๐งช Homebrew Maker (Combat tab): invent your own monster โ type a name, pick a CR, type and size, hit โ Forge. It gets HP, AC, attack bonus and damage balanced to match official monsters of that CR, plus matching token art, and drops straight onto the map ready for the โ๏ธ combat assistant. Your creations are saved for re-dropping (right-click one to delete).
๐ฅ Add party (roll init) puts everyone in initiative with rolled d20s; Next โธ advances turns (players get a chime), the turn timer nudges slowpokes.
Right-click a monster โ โ๏ธ Attackโฆ โ its real attack profile prefills (SRD stats built in), advantage buttons, crits double dice, temp HP soaks first. The encounter meter shows EasyโDeadly as you build.
Conditions, auras, concentration and death saves are on the right-click menu. Downed players alert you automatically.
โฐ๏ธ Deaths get their moment: when a PC's third death save fails, the table gets a eulogy announcement and the Chronicle records the fall โ and when they claw their way back (nat 20, stabilize, or healing), the return is announced too. You don't have to do anything; the ceremony fires itself. ๐ฏ๏ธ With an AI DM configured, the Dungeon Master also speaks a personal eulogy drawn from the Chronicle โ honoring what that character actually did in your campaign โ and a dramatic welcome-back line on revival.
๐ช Hidden doors & smarter darkness: the fog toolbar now has an "โ๏ธ Erase wall" brush โ knock a single cell out of any wall to reveal a secret passage the moment the party finds it. And with Lighting on, each player sees the map through their own character's eyes: darkvision from their sheet, real line-of-sight around walls, light sources, and fog that lifts only where they can actually see. Ambushes just got real.
๐ช Working doors: drop a ๐ช Door brush cell on any wall, and it becomes a real door โ a closed door blocks sight like solid stone, and anyone at the table can click it to swing it open (๐ช) and let the light and vision pour through. Perfect for bursting into the boss room. The whole table hears it creak.
๐ Locked doors & ๐ ๏ธ lockpicking: a locked door (๐) won't open for anyone. If your character carries thieves' tools in their inventory, click the locked door to attempt a pick โ the DM gets a prompt to allow it. Approved, the lock springs and the door swings open; denied, the lock holds. No tools? "It's locked โ you need a key or thieves' tools."
๐ต๏ธ Secret doors (DM): click any door repeatedly to cycle it through closed โ ๐ locked โ ๐ต๏ธ secret โ open. A secret door is completely invisible to players and blocks sight exactly like a wall โ thieves' tools can't touch it, because you can't pick a lock you haven't found. Reveal it (perception, magic, or DM fiat) by cycling it back to a normal door.
โ ๏ธ Traps (DM): the fog toolbar has a โ ๏ธ Trap brush โ name the trap and set its damage, then paint hidden triggers on the map. When a player walks their token onto one, it springs automatically: a burst of fire on the board, an announcement to the table, and the damage applied straight to their token. Traps stay invisible to players until you reveal one (click it). A revealed trap can be disarmed by a player with thieves' tools โ same DM-approval flow as locked doors. Right-click a trap to remove it. Monsters the DM moves never set off the party's traps.
๐บ๏ธ Explored memory: the dungeon now remembers where you've walked. Rooms you've already seen stay dimly lit even after you move on, while the unexplored dark stays pitch black โ so the map fills in as you adventure, just like a real dungeon crawl. Your memory is saved per campaign and resets when the DM loads a new map.
โจ Homebrew stats in Party Sheets: the ๐ Party sheets viewer now shows each player's custom trackers (Corruption, Sanity, Faction repโฆ) and exhaustion level, updating live as they change. Perfect for dark campaigns where you're tracking a slow slide into madness.
๐บ๏ธ Maps, fog & atmosphere
Battle maps: pick from the built-in library or upload any image (map packs, Azgaar exportsโฆ). Adjust grid size to fit.
Fog of war hides the unexplored; walls + dynamic lighting give true line-of-sight per token. Brush sizes 1ร1 to 5ร5.
World tab: your overworld โ upload a world map image (๐ผ๏ธ), pin your cities (๐), and let players travel. Each city has vendors you control.
Set the mood: weather overlays (rain/snow/fog/embers) + synced soundscapes (tavern/dungeon/forestโฆ). Show any image to the table with the ๐ผ handout board.
Hidden tokens (GM layer) are invisible to players until you reveal them โ great for ambushes.
โ Quests & rewards (the engine works for you)
Create quests with objectives like "reach Silverkeep" or "slay 3 wolves" โ they complete themselves as the party travels and fights, and pay XP + gold straight onto every sheet.
๐งญ AI: suggest quests writes a main + side quests in one click. ๐ฌ Ready check asks the table, then lets everyone pick the quest together.
Award bonus XP any time; milestone-level the whole party with one button.
๐ฐ The economy (anti-cheat by design)
Players can't invent items โ everything flows through you: the shop (open it, stock it by hand or let the AI stock it), ๐ฆ loot chests you place, loot you stock on monsters, quest rewards, ๐ Give item, and playerโplayer trades.
Prices, buying AND selling work automatically against their coin pouches. DM-only magic items include crafting time/cost.
๐๏ธ DM oversight tools
Party tab: live HP bars + read-only view of every character sheet. Whisper any player privately.
Give any token to a player (right-click โ give control) โ companions, familiars, that goblin they adopted.
โถ (end of the tab row) makes your panel full-screen โ DM mission control. Pop-out sheet puts a sheet on your second monitor.
๐พ Never lose a campaign
Everything autosaves and survives server restarts โ maps, tokens, world, shop, quests, NPCs, chat.
๐พ Download campaign (belt-and-suspenders) saves a file; load it into any room later โ even on another server.
๐ Pro tips
Prep is optional here: demo room + AI improv + quest engine means you can run a session with literally zero prep. Try it.
Let the AI narrate flavor while you make rulings and voice the big NPCs โ best of both worlds.
Keep the Journal open โ players write in it, and "People you've met" becomes your campaign bible automatically.
๐ Linked notes: you and your players can @mention any character from People-you've-met inside notebook notes (with autocomplete) and use #tags โ clicking a link jumps to the NPC card, and each card shows backlinks to every note that mentions them. 66 NPCs stays navigable.
โ ๏ธ Dead/Alive NPC tags: long campaigns rack up dozens of NPCs (66 by episode 37 is real). Hit โ ๏ธ on a card to mark someone dead โ they grey out with a strikethrough, the All/Alive/Dead filter keeps the list usable, and the AI DM is explicitly told never to bring a [DEAD] character back as anything but a body, memory, or ghost. ๐ revives them if you change your mind.
๐ My Notebook: every player (and you) gets a private notebook in the Journal tab โ text notes, pasted photos of real notebook pages, and a built-in โ๏ธ sketch pad. Great for players who keep hand-drawn maps and monster doodles; everything persists with the campaign. Tell your table it exists!
Join the Discord (๐ฌ on the join screen) โ #dm-lounge is behind the screen, players can't see it.
๐ฌ Scene Prep โ 20 ready-to-go maps (NEW)
Open ๐บ๏ธ Maps โ ๐ฌ Prepped scenes. Set up a map + monsters + weather, name it, hit ๐พ Save current setup.
Save up to 20 scenes โ they survive server restarts, so prep tonight, play Saturday.
โถ Load swaps the whole board in one click. Player tokens are never touched; hidden ambushers load still-hidden.
Prep before players join, or between sessions โ during play, loading is instant.
๐ฅ๏ธ Three screens: full app, DM Map View, Table View (NEW)
Full app โ everything, right-hand panel. Your home base.
๐งญ DM map view (top bar) โ a second window: huge map + slim LEFT rail with Maps, one-tap scene buttons, โญ next turn, ๐ฒ d20, and โคข back. Join it with your GM password. Keyboard tools still work (F fog, R ruler, E AoE, D draw).
๐ฅ๏ธ Table view (top bar) โ a zero-UI map window for the TV facing your players. Auto-joins as "๐บ Table View" and only shows what players may see (fog respected).
Mix them across monitors: tools on your laptop, map on the TV.
๐ช Hybrid sessions โ friends at the table AND online (NEW)
The setup: your in-person group plays around the real table; remote friends join the same room with the ๐ invite link or ๐๏ธ party code. One campaign, everyone in it.
๐ช / ๐ presence: players tick "I'm at the physical table" on the join screen (or click their own name in the Players tab to flip it). The Players tab shows who's in the room vs online โ so you always know who can see the real table and who needs the screen.
The recipe: ๐ฅ๏ธ Table view on a TV for the in-room folks ยท remote players run the full app ยท ๐๏ธ voice chat bridges the audio ยท shared dice, initiative, sheets, and journal keep both halves in the same game. Remote players roll on-screen; table players can roll real dice and let you enter results.
Add the ๐ต session playlist and ๐ soundscapes and the room and the remote crew hear the same tavern.
โ๏ธ Combat tracker, board dice & crits (NEW)
When initiative starts, a floating combat tracker appears over the board for everyone โ round number, turn order, active fighter highlighted, and a Next โธ button for you (or press N / Space).
The next player gets a "๐ฏ You're on deck" nudge so turns stop dragging.
Every roll tumbles a big d20 on the board โ everyone sees it land. Natural 20s post ๐ฅ NATURAL 20! to chat; natural 1s post ๐ CRITICAL FAIL. Advantage/disadvantage uses the die that counts.
โค๏ธ Health bars & monster art (NEW)
Health bars ride on top of tokens. Players see bars on player tokens only โ monster HP stays your secret (you see everything).
Every new player token starts with a health bar automatically.
Drop a monster from the bestiary or Open5e and it gets matching token art โ dragons, undead, goblins, demons and 20+ more, tinted by type. The lists show the art too, so you can see what you're grabbing.
๐บ๏ธ The adventure map & token packs (NEW)
18 painted battle maps are built into ๐บ๏ธ Maps โ ambush roads, hideouts, castles, caverns, taverns, a haunted manor, a village under siege and more. One click to set.
12 character tokens (knights, paladins, half-orcs, a bard, catfolkโฆ) are in the token gallery โ double-click any token โ pick a portrait.
Your own maps still work: ๐บ๏ธ Maps โ upload, any image. Align the grid with the ๐ slider.
๐ฒ Group checks, saves & battlefield tools (NEW)
Call a group check: type /check perception 15 in chat (or /check stealth with no DC). Every player gets a Roll banner; their real bonus is rolled and posted with โ pass / โ fail. Great for "everyone roll perception" moments without the table-wide scramble.
Call a group save:/save dex 15 โ same thing for saving throws (a trap goes off, a dragon breathes). Uses each character's real save bonus. Works with any ability: str, dex, con, int, wis, cha.
๐ก๏ธ Dodge: players (and any token you control) can take the Dodge action from the Combat tab or the right-click menu โ attackers roll at disadvantage until that creature's next turn, resolved automatically by the server, with a blue ring on the token. It clears on their turn.
๐ Movement counter: once you're in initiative, each player sees a live "moved X / 30 ft" budget on their own turn only, resetting each round. It's a helper, not a hard cap โ you can always rule a Dash or difficult terrain out loud. Set an unusual speed by putting a speed on the token; otherwise it assumes 30 ft.
๐ Mundane kit: the party's Combat tab has ๐ฉ Caltrops, โช Ball bearings and a ๐ชง 10-ft pole. Caltrops/bearings drop a real hazard tile (DEX save or slowed / knocked prone); the pole safely reveals adjacent traps. Wipe any of it with your universal ๐งฝ Erase brush.

๐๏ธ Survival
At levels 1โ4 every torch, ration, and lucky roll matters. Kit up, light the dark, make camp, and live off the land. Actions post to the table so the DM can raise the stakes.
๐ Grab a starter kit
Drops the classic wilderness essentials straight onto your sheet: torches, rations, waterskin, rope, bedroll, tinderbox & a mess kit.
๐ฅ Light a torch
Burns one torch from your pack โ bright light 20 ft (dim 20 more) for about an hour.
